I live with my wife in Cheshire along with four cats a horse and some chickens. I am a fully qualified teacher and worked for 24 years in primary schools. In 2018 I started my own business as a private tutor.

I became interested in photography in the early 2000s. I have only ever used a digital camera and using photoshop has always been a big part of my photography. Sometimes my manipulations are subtle and at other times I like to stretch reality by forming composite images. Many of my most successful competition images have been digital composites created in photoshop and I spent time improving my technique for quite a number of years.

Some will argue that true photography should be ‘out of camera’ and I respect that point of view. There is no substitute for good camera technique and Photoshop works better with strong source material.  However, I am very much of the opinion that the final image is the important part and the methods to get there should leave the photographer free to be creative. I have a personal code of conduct that I only use images that I have personally photographed. 

Since starting my YouTube I have enjoyed exploring a more natural style of photography while still trying to take the best quality photographs I can. I still consider that the editing process important and I am firmly of the belief that every image benefits from some post processing. I use a mixture of programs including, camera raw, photoshop, Luminar AI and DXO pure RAW.

My goal now on my channel is to take photographs that please me and I can connect with. I don’t take photographs to win competitions or get points. I want to pass on my enjoyment of the art of photography and video making to my viewers. Photography and being out in nature can be very theraputic and it is a great way to unwind and leave behind the worlds problems.
